|Today, I spent most of the day walking exploring the little town I'm in and the next one. Since it was very cloudy with a chance of rain today, I didn't want to venture much in the trail system, because they would be slippery and I didn't want to get caught by rain hours from a shelter.|
So, instead in the morning, I went out
early to capture the first glimpses of sunlight. It was still
overcast, but at some point, I did see some yellow colouration on the
clouds. I walked all over the town, to view the bay and the
mountains from different angles. After 3 hours of walk, since the
rain was beginning, I returned to the hotel to rest a bit.
After a quick nap, I was ready to
venture again... fearing it would rain again, I came out with a
plan... I walked on the road side towards the next town.
Officially, it's just 8 km away... that's the bird's flight distance
not considering the many hills. Normally, I would cover 8 km on flat
land in less than 1.5 hours. This time, with all the hills up and
down... it took me 2.5 hours to reach destination and about the same
to come back. So, considering the hills, it felt like 16 km each
way. To give you an indication of the hills... I started at sea
level... and the highest point I had was almost 300 m.
The view at the other end wasn't so
great though... but I had a nice fish and chips to give me fuel to
Maybe it was because there's too much
oxygen in the air here, but I'm quite tired and I know I will sleep
The lead picture is from the Rocky Harbour Pond. This is a small pond here in Newfoundland... and it's almost 2 km long.
